Ashlyn Hula Hoops

This week Ashlyn has desperately been trying to hula hoop.  She's not coordinated enough to do this successfully, but that doesn't stop her from trying repeatedly.  I admire her persistence.  She holds up the hula hoop, flings it around, and then tries to wiggle her hips to keep it up, though it always quickly falls back to the ground.  Eventually, she gets tired of this and instead leaves the hula hoop on the ground, stands in the middle of it, and spins herself around.

Busy Girl

Ashlyn has had a busy week of playing at home.  She has done multiple surgeries on various dolls and stuffed animals.  She has pretended to go camping in her tent.  And, she has painted several watercolor pictures.

Firefighter Ashlyn

Ashlyn dressed up in a random assortment of her dress-up clothes today and announced that she was a firefighter.  I thought her choice of firefighter attire was, ummm, very interesting.

An Ashlyn Moment

Things have been relatively uneventful in our household over the past few days.  On Saturday, I took Ashlyn to a friend's birthday party, which she enjoyed.  Other than that, we've continued to work on getting her bedroom settled and Lynnea's old room turned into a toyroom, but it's been a slow process.  Eventually it will get done.

Earlier today, Ashlyn was playing downstairs in the playroom, and she came up to me and handed me a toy plastic tomato.  I pretended to eat it.  She said to me, "No Mommy!  That's not for eating, it's fake."  I replied, "OK, then what am I supposed to do with it?"  Ashlyn explained, "It goes in my toy kitchen.  You're supposed to put it away."  Gee, I'm so glad that Ashlyn thinks I'm supposed to clean up her toys for her.

ColorWonder Paint

Ashlyn Paints

Ashlyn's Painting
Today for art, (no, we haven't been "doing art" everyday lately, mostly because I've been slacking...) Ashlyn painted a very large picture using her ColorWonder Paints.  She had fun with this, and worked very hard at covering the entire sheet of paper.  Every time that I thought she was almost done, she would look at the paper and say, "OK, Mommy, I think I'm done...no, wait, I think I still see a spot that needs more paint."  And then she would continue painting for several more minutes.
